Meet Sal Kaplan: The Heart Behind Mane Market

Hey there, I’m Sal Kaplan, the founder of Mane Market. My love for horses started young, and they helped me get through some tough times as a kid. That’s why I became a certified therapeutic riding instructor. Over the past six years, I’ve worked with hundreds of kids, helping them overcome emotional and physical challenges through riding. I’m originally from Santa Barbara, California, but now I live in Israel, working with kids from all backgrounds—Jewish, Arab, and more. My approach to horses is all about respect and empathy. I teach what I call “mindful riding,” where the focus is on understanding the horse’s perspective, seeing the world through their eyes as a prey animal. It’s about building natural horsemanship and communication, not about control or using gadgets. I believe in creating a partnership, not just a ride.
